Kansas City rockers Sidewise are playing a one-off show at The Riot Room in Kansas City tonight (Aug. 12) with support from To Whom It May and Save The Hero.
In the build-up to the show, Sidewise has been promoting the show offering fans all sort of custom merchandise – including wristbands, an unreleased song, and more. Jason Dean, the band’s drummer, shared why the group is focusing on fan-sided merch.
“Kansas City has been so good to us wanting to see Sidewise succeed,” he said. “With that being said, we want to extend the love back to our people constantly. Those who have attended Sidewise shows in the past know that we always do something special for them to show that we truly appreciate the amazing support we get.”
Sidewise always draws a big crowd, as seen at Rockfest. The group decided to do a one-off at The Riot Room because of long-tine support from the venue.
“You know The Riot Room has been a home for us through the years, they have always treated us so well,” Dean said. “What is nice about The Riot Room is it takes us back to where and why we do this, it’s just raw pure energy in that room. Everyone can lock eyes and have an experience together, it really is magical!”
On top of giveaways, the band will debut new merchandise and some new music at the show. The group has been working on a new album this year, with no release date yet.
“The new songs are more different than anything we have ever done before,” Dean said. “It is a very scary but exciting thing to present something you have put so much time and energy into. We hope everyone loves it as much as we do.”
Dean said the group is excited to play and get their fans together. He boasted the show will be a good time and even offered a money-back guarantee.
“You do not want to miss this show!” he said. “When you mix pure energy with the love pouring from everyone, it makes for an amazing experience for just $10. At the end of this show, if you absolutely had a horrible time, I’ll be happy to give you your money back. Sidewise guarantees you an amazing rock show!”
Doors open at The Riot Room at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $10 in advance through their website or available at the door for $12. Follow Sidewise on Facebook here. Check them out on Instagram @Sidewiseband and Twitter @Sidewisemusic.
