North Kansas City’s first record store is having a grand opening on August 5, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. FM Music sells vintage vinyl, CDs, cassettes, music by local artists, T-shirts, prayer candles, and other music related items.
FM Music is a throw-back vinyl store; back to the days of excellent customer service provided by a knowledgeable proprietor, hanging out and talking music in the record store, listening to music before you buy, and purchasing a tangible piece of history.
Pre-loved music from the 1950’s to sounds of the present day, is the niche of FM Music. Rock/pop has the largest selection, along with country, jazz, vocal, classical, soundtracks, children’s, blues, reggae, garage, and fun categories such as: oddball, surf guitar, and comedy. Owner Faron Meeks gathers wish lists from clients and searches for that elusive LP to complete your collection.
Local musicians, such as The Elders and Rainmakers, sell their entire catalog at FM Music.
Opening day will feature live performance by Jon Stubblefield, drawings for prizes including records, guitar string bracelets made by String Theory KC, and record cleaning kits provided by GrooveWasher.
FM Music Vintage Sounds is located at 206 E. 18th Avenue North Kansas City, MO 64116. For more, follow FM Music on Facebook here.
