Kansas City Comic Con starts Friday at 1 p.m. and runs through the weekend when Bartle Hall’s doors shut at 5 p.m. Sunday evening. The family-friendly event will attract a myriad of pop culture and comic books enthusiasts as hundreds of media guests, creators, artists and cosplayers descend on Kansas City this weekend to interact with fans.
Media guests include Carrie Henn, who played the child Newt in “Aliens;” Brian Herring, who was the puppeteer behind BB-8 in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens;” Jeremy Howard , who played Donatello in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows;” Margaret Kerry, who is the artist model for Tinker Bell; Nichelle Nichols, who played Uhura in the original “Star Trek;” Fred Ottman of WWE fame; John Schneider, who played Bo Duke in “The Dukes of Hazzard;” Peter Shinkoda, who plays Nobu in “Daredevil;” Ksenia Solo, who played Shay Davydov in “Orphan Black;” Aaron Stanford, who plays James Cole in the “12 Monkeys” TV series; Billy Dee Williams, who played Lando Calrissian in the original “Star Wars;” Fred Williamson, who played Frost in the film “From Dusk Till Dawn;” and Tom Wopat, who played Luke Duke in “The Dukes of Hazzard.”
KCCC also features more than 100 creator guests, which includes writers, illustrators and other artists including Kansas City native Jason Aaron, who works on the Marvel Star Wars comic, and Ant Lucia, who designed the DC Comics’ Bombshells.
The Con also features a myriad of cosplayers and prop builders as well as encourages guests to dress in their favorite cosplay (rules here). There are also many vendors throughout Bartle Hall to peruse.
KCCC will also feature several events, including a blood drive, costume contests for adults and children, and panels throughout the weekend.
