After building much anticipation, Deftones debuted a new song titled “Prayers/Triangles.” It’s the first song released from their upcoming album “Gore,” due out April 8.
The song set a new world record by being sent to more than 100 countries via the Zane Lowe Beats 1 radio show on Apple Music.
The song sounds like a traditional Deftones track, with sweeping guitar work and vocalist Chino Moreno moving from melodic tones to a more ragged and manic tone later in the song.
“It’s one of those songs that’s very Deftones-esque,” Moreno told Lowe via telephone. “That dynamic is there as far as that ebb and flow, those parts that go at your throat, but it also has a soothing quality to it. That dichotomy I think is what makes us who we are — it’s sort of our DNA. It’s a good representation of where we’re at.”
The track can also be found on Deftones YouTube channel here.
